A few weeks ago a McCord Elementary kindergarten student, Paisley De La Cruz was involved in a terrible accident involving a golf cart. She suffered severe injuries and remains in the hospital while she recovers. Our VHS athletes wanted to help and came up with a way to raise money for the family with a "Lift-A-Thon Fundraiser." Athletes are out asking for sponsors to make donations per pound for the combined amount they will lift. The "Lift-A-Thon Fundraiser" will be held at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, at the VHS weightroom and the public is invited to attend. The athletes will perform the three core lifts -- Bench, Squat & Deadlift. So, if you pledge .05 cents per pound and the athlete lifts a total of 600 pounds, your total donation would be $30. You can also just don't a set amount if wish.

To help our 1st grade students kick off their Science Week, VHS physics teacher Mrs. Allison Stanley brought students from her physics class over to do some science experiments with our students. She walked the students through the scientific method, performed a couple of exothermic reactions for the kids, and then each high school student led a team of 1st graders in a marshmallow/toothpick tower building challenge.

This year in Ms. Smith's kindergarten class the students are closing out the school year with a theme of the day, everyday. These days include review activities of things the students have learned throughout the year, along with a little fun! Tuesday was "Bubble Day", while Wednesday was "Popcorn Day."

Earlier this week members of the VES Student Council spent a leisurely, but exciting, day at the Wichita Mountains. The trip was a reward for the hard work these students put in this school year.
