In our Bluebonnet Curriculum kindergarten students are currently learning everything about a farm -- from the ground up. Earlier this week Mrs. Weddle read "The Little Red Hen" to her class. In the story, the Little Red Hen goes out and harvests wheat while the other chickens play, but when winter comes and the other chickens have nothing to eat, the Little Red Hen shares her food. After reading the book, Mrs. Weddle told her students she was going to make bread and students had the option of helping her or going to play. Five students opted to help their teacher. Once the students who hadn't helped smelled that freshly baked bread, they wished they had helped because they wanted some. Like the Little Red Hen, Mrs. Weddle's helpers decided to share their bread with all of their classmates. Mrs. Weddle said this project also tied into their math lessons with measurements using vocabulary word capacity. Students helping her understood that a measuring cup held more than a teaspoon or tablespoon.

All VISD campuses will be operating on an Early Release Schedule tomorrow due to the Lions' Area Playoff Game being played in Canyon.
