Vernon ISD is lucky to have an outstanding group of paraprofessionals working at all of our campuses, and today we would like to tell them how much we appreciate all they do for the district. We are lucky to have paraprofessionals who step up wherever needed to make sure their campus runs as smoothly as possible. Thank you for all you do for our teachers and our students.

Our VHS tennis team will be in Wichita Falls today competing in Day 1 of District 7-3A UIL Singles & Doubles Tournament. The top two finishers in each bracket -- Boys Singles, Girls Singles, Boys Doubles, Girls Doubles and Mixed Doubles -- will advance to the Class 3A Region 1 UIL Singles & Doubles Tournament. Day 2 of the tournament, being played at Hamilton Park, will be held tomorrow. Good luck to our Lion netters!!!

Good luck to our Roarin' Lion Band as the band competes in the UIL Concert & Sightreading Contest today in Wichita Falls. We know you'll do great!

Tomorrow is the start of a new month, which means it is time for a new VISD Cafeteria menu. So, below you will find the menu for April -- the last full month of school for the 2025-26 school year.

Last weekend, our VHS tennis team competed in the Sharon Wartes Invitational Tournament in Abilene. There were 33 teams competing in the tournament, with most of those being 4A and above. Nevan Schur and Jonathan Medina competed in the Boys "A" Doubles draw and won the draw. In the finals, they defeated a team from Tyler Legacy, 6-4, 6-3 to capture the championship. Congrats guys!! Awesome job!

Our Lions will hit the road this afternoon, traveling to Wichita Falls for games against our District 7-3A foes, the City View Mustangs. The JV game will begin at 4 p.m., with the varsity game set to start at 7 p.m. Good luck Lions!!

Tomorrow will be busy one in the Media Center. From 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., seniors can pick up their caps and gowns. And, also during that time students who earned a letterman jacket this year can be fitted for their jacket.

Last week, KFDX reporter Dylan Jimenez visited Vernon Elementary to interview Mr. Perez for a story on the district's Emergent Bilingual program, and specifically Mr. Perez's classes here at VES. A few of our students were also interviewed by Mr. Jimenez for the story, which should air today. Tune in to KFDX today for the 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscast to catch the story.




Our VHS Roarin' Lion Band Winter Guard will take the floor at D.O. Fulton Gym on Thursday for their Community Showcase. Members of the Winter Guard will be performing their contest show. The Community Showcase will begin at 6 p.m. Come on out and show your support for this wonderful group!

Ten Lady Lions brought home medals from the City View Mustang Relays that was held Wednesday. As a team, the Lady Lions picked up a second place finish. At the Jacksboro track meet a couple of weeks ago junior Breasha Waggoner broke her own school record in the high jump by clearing 5-feet, 7-inches. She set a new school record just last year when she cleared 5-6. Breasha has won the high jump at track meet so far this season.


Our Lady Lions will be looking to win their second District 7-3A game in a row this evening when they host Henrietta at Ronda Havins Softball Field. Vernon defeated the Lady Cats, 13-4, in Henrietta on Tuesday. Game time is set for 5 p.m. Bundle up against the wind and come on out to support our Lady Lions!! Good luck!!

Our Lions will be hosting Henrietta on the baseball diamond today and there has been a slight change to the schedule. The JV game has been canceled, and the start time for the varsity game has been moved up to 6 p.m. Brave the wind and come out to Jabe Brazzle Field to support the Lions. Good luck!!
