Last week, 5th grade students went over to visit Vernon Middle School, where they will be attending school next year. The students rotated through 4 stations. Mrs. Sasse gave a presentation on rules and expectations; Mrs. Mathes gave a presentation on PBIS and Class Bank; Principal Katrina Price and SRO Deputy Adams gave the students a tour of the school; and at the snack station, Rebecca Bass from Region 9 also gave a presentation on expectations when students are in the cafeteria as well as provided information on some mental health services available at VMS.

We enjoyed hosting the Vernon Chamber of Commerce Wake Up Vernon event today at the Vernon High School Media Center. Thanks to all of those who braved the wet weather and joined us. An extra-special thank you Mrs. Audrey Hastings and the students in her culinary arts class who made sausage balls and muffins for the event. They were a HUGE hit!!

We will be hosting our Muffins With Mom event this Thursday, May 8. The event will start at 7 a.m. Our students always have the biggest smiles when family members join them for an event at school. Please join your child and enjoy a quick muffin with them. We bet your Thursday will be a great one if you start it with us.

Wilbarger General Hospital and the WGH Medical Group are once again ready to provide our VISD athletes with free sports physicals for the 2025-26 school year. If your child will be in the 7th, 9th or 11th grade next year and plan on participating in sports, they MUST have a new sports physical before they will be allowed to practice. Also, regardless of grade, if your child sustained an injury this year that forced them to miss a game, they will also need to take a sports physical. Paperwork has been handed out to students. If it didn't make it home, please contact a coach at your school.
