So far this school year VHS seniors have covered 10 landmark court cases in their Government class. Last week, the students tested on the cases by drawing their knowledge of the court cases in shaving cream. Teacher Brett White said it was pretty cool to see their "vision" of the case.

Last week, our medical assistant students did a research project on MA jobs anywhere in the world. In their research they included information about salary, housing and utilities, accommodations such as transportation, food, and details about their job description/area of focus. CNA/MA instructor Candace Adams then incorporated their research into a game of Life using their careers, salary and housing information. The point of this was to show them the reality of the field of healthcare and the fact that you DON’T have to have a college degree (although it is encouraged) to be able to make a living and live LIFE! Our winner was Litzy Ayala who worked as an MA doing a travel gig in Seattle, WA and lived in a hotel while working. She finished out her “life” with $1.6 million!

There has been a slight change in today's softball schedule, as the Lady Lions travel to Bowie to take on the Lady Rabbits. There will be no JV game, and the varsity game has been pushed back to a 7 p.m. start. The Lions will also be in Bowie taking on the Jackrabbits in District 7-3A action. The JV baseball game will start at 4:30 p.m., with the varsity game to follow at 7 p.m.

The VHS Drama Department will present their One-Act Play "1984" in two performances for the general public. Here are a few more photos of our Middle School students enjoying the opportunity to view the solar eclipse.

Due to the rainouts on Tuesday and the wet field conditions today, Vernon's District 7-3A baseball and softball home games against Jacksboro will be played this evening in Holliday. Fans going to the games are advised to park in the parking lots by the gym or the football field and walk to the fields. Parking WILL NOT be allowed on Eagle Drive, the narrow road that runs in front of the new baseball and softball fields, due to water standing in the ditches.

On Tuesday, students in Mr. Brett White's AP World History class reenacted the painting of the Sistine Chapel. Students were given duct tape to tape their paper to the underside of their desk and painted the "Creation of Adam" by Michelangelo. Painting the ceiling required Michelangelo to lay high above the ground on a scaffold. Mr. White said this was the best they could do, but he thought the students gained a new level of appreciation for both the artwork and the artist.

Four Vernon Lions have been selected to play in the FCA Texas/OU All-Star Showdown that will be held Friday, June 7, in Iowa Park. A big congratulations to the Lions!!
