On Wednesday, VHS history teacher Brett White's students took a field trip and explored Vernon's downtown area. Several students commented they learned a lot of local history that they had never heard before while walking through downtown.

In a science class earlier this week, Middle School students Emma Woods and Harper Wilson learned the correct use of lab equipment with a little help from teacher Teri Williams.

This Friday is an Early Release Friday for the district. Please note that Vernon High School dismisses classes at 12:10 p.m., however buses will not run at the high school until 12:45 p.m.. This allows those students who have "B" lunch and ride the bus time to eat lunch at school.

Good luck to our Lions cross country team as they compete today in the Burkburnett Jamboree Cross Country Meet!!

Students at both Central and Shive Elementary Schools, which will combine into Vernon Elementary later this semester, will have the opportunity to earn “Lion Bucks” over the course of the school year. “Lion Bucks” are used as a reward when a teacher or school administrator sees a student doing something good.
They’re handed out to students who help with announcements, and a student can receive them for their birthday.
Teachers will give them to students who are showing good behavior habits or who are being extra helpful.
Once a semester, there is a “Lion Bucks Store” where the students can purchase toys, books, etc., with the “Lion Bucks” they have earned that semester.

The Kona Ice truck was at VHS today during both lunch periods, as students had the opportunity to enjoy the tasty treat. The names of all students ho have perfect attendance so far this year were put into a drawing, with three names from each grade drawn. Those whose names were drawn received a free Kona Ice courtesy of the VMS/VHS PTO. Winners were: seniors Matthew Goodrum, Javier Sandoval and Layla Trinidad; juniors Austin Reed, Sierra Thomas and Avery Garcia; sophomores Nadia Gaines, Jonathan Medina and Zoey Newton; and freshmen Say Hae, Chevy Talbot and Isabella Urista.
