
Receiving Student of the Week honors for the 2nd & 3rd Grade for the weeks of Nov. 27 and Dec. 4 were: 2nd Grade -- Alexia Leija & Layla Trejo; 3rd Grade -- Yareni Blanco Ramirez & Viviana Rejino. Earning Student of the Week recognition last week for the 4th & 5th Grade were Alexa Nail, 4th grade, and Drayven Edwards, 5th grade. Congratulations! Well done! Your photo will be displayed this week on our digital sign and on the digital sign at the Admin Building.



On Friday, pizza party was held for a selected group of 5th grade students. Two students were selected from each 5th grade homeroom to receive the special lunch. The students selected show consistent leadership and excellent behavior both inside and outside of the classroom. Great job students! Keep up the great work!! The Vernon Police Department sponsored the lunch and provided the pizza.


Our 2nd and 3rd grade students showed off their artwork to their families Tuesday night at the annual Art Walk. The students' artwork was displayed throughout the school and they also picked up a folder of the artwork they had completed during this first semester of school. There was also a place for families to take a "Snow Globe" photo.





Don't forget our VISD Gifted and Talented Program parent meeting at 6 p.m., tomorrow, Thursday, in the VHS Media Center. This meeting is intended to provide information to parents who are deciding on whether to nominate their child for Gifted and Talented testing. We will have a meeting for parents of identified GT students in the spring. Please contact Amanda Brown at 940-553-1900 ext 2247 with any questions.


Please remember that if you are going to one of our school campuses during school hours, you must have your driver's license or other form of photo ID when you check in at the office. And, you must check in at the office. You will be issued a name tag that must be worn while you are on our campus and returned to the office as you leave the campus. Thank you for understanding and for helping us keep the learning environment for our students and your children a safe place.


Vernon ISD is currently taking nominations for our Gifted and Talented Program, which we have on each school campus. However, some parents may not exactly know what our Gifted and Talented Program is all about and if their child should be nominated. We are holding a parent information meeting for our Gifted and Talented Program at 6 p.m., Thursday, at the VHS Media Center. If you have questions about our GT Program, please join us.


It's that time of year, and nothing can get you in the Christmas spirit faster than music!! Join us Tuesday night for our VISD Band Program Christmas Concert featuring performances by our 6th Grade Band, 7th Grade Band, and our Roarin' Lion Band!

To all the members of our VISD family, our students and their families, and the Vernon community, we want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! We are thankful for you and your support of Vernon ISD.


The competition was fierce in the race to be the class with the most feathers on their turkey in our Turkey Bowl fundraiser. The winning classes were: 2nd Grade -- Ms. Fieldhouse; 3rd Grade -- Ms. Sandoval; 4th Grade -- Ms. T.White; and 5th Grade -- Ms. Jansa. Students in each winning class competed to win a frozen turkey. Those winners were Kinslyn Durwin for second grade and Karyss Finnegan for third grade. The fourth grade winner of the frozen turkey was Corbin Hendrix, with Alexia Romero the fifth grade winner. The VES Student Council raised almost $2,000 which will be used to purchase Christmas gifts for Star Tree children.







Last Friday, we held our Turkey Bowl, with students in the winning classes participating with the chance to win a frozen turkey. The Turkey Bowl was a fundraiser for our VES Student Council. The Turkey Bowl raised almost $2,000, which the Student Council will use to buy gifts for Star Tree children to help them have a Merry Christmas. Here are a few scenes from the fun event.







Friday morning, Vernon ISD administrators and VISD board trustees visited campuses and distributed Covid Retention Stipend checks to all staff members so they would have the funds for shopping over the Thanksgiving Break. Vernon ISD started its Thanksgiving Break today. School will resume on Nov. 27.



A quick reminder that all VISD campuses will operate on their Early Release Friday schedules. Class will be dismissed next week for the Thanksgiving Break, with classes resuming on Nov. 27.
