Our VHS Drama department will be performing "Ripcord" this Friday and Saturday in the VHS Cafeteria. The Friday performance starts at 6:30 p.m., while the Saturday performance will begin at 2:30 p.m. Admission is $5. Those who bring a non-perishable food item will receive free popcorn and a drink.


This morning, KAUZ Sports Anchor Ernest Strawther stopped by VHS to award Tru Gipson with his Game Changer Award he received for his performance in the Lions' Area playoff victory over River Road. With the Thanksgiving break and busy schedules, this was the first opportunity for Ernest to get the award to Tru. Watch for his interview today at 6 p.m. on KAUZ.


Our 4th & 5th Grade Christmas Program was held last night. The student performed with their grade, and then combined to close out the night. All of the students were great. It is Feliz Navidad Day at Vernon High School as the 10 School Days of Christmas countdown continues, and students wore sombreros and other Christmas attire. VHS paraprofessional Hilda Moreno even treated the campus staff to Abuelitas and other pastries to celebrate the day!








Our Lady Lions open District 7-3A action tonight as they travel to Jacksboro to square off against the Tigerettes!! The JV game will begin at 4:30 p.m., with the varsity game scheduled to start at approximately 6 p.m. Vernon begins district play with an overall record of 8-3. Good luck Lady Lions!!!


A public meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, at the VHS Media Center to discuss the high school's 2024 State Accountability Rating.

Today started Vernon High School's 10 School Days of Christmas countdown. Today's theme was "Here Comes Santa..." and students definitely got into the spirit of the day.






Members of our VMS Student Council recently took a turn ringing the bells for the Salvation Army Red Kettle at United Supermarket. The annual Red Kettle Campaign is the Salvation Army's largest fundraiser of the year. All the donations stay here with Vernon's chapter of the Salvation Army.

Friday evening Vernon ISD Supt. Dr. Kermit Ward and Vernon High School Principal Dr. Cynthia Jackson manned the Salvation Army Red Kettle at Walmart. The Red Kettle Campaign is the Salvation Army's major fundraiser of the year. All the money collected stays right here in the community with the local Salvation Army chapter.

Thursday evening our McCord 1st graders presented their annual Christmas Program. A great crowd was on hand to enjoy the student's performance There were plenty of cheers and smiles all around.











Receiving our VES Teacher of the Month honor for November is 3rd grade teacher Kirsten Civitarese and receiving our VES Staff Member of the Month honor is Jovita Fernandez. Congratulations to these ladies!! They always do an outstanding job and go above and beyond for their students.


Members of the VES Student Council went shopping yesterday, selecting gifts for the stars they selected from the Vernon Jaycees' Star Tree, which helps ensure children in need in the community receive something on Christmas morning. The Student Council raised the funds for the shopping spree in November with their annual "Turkey Bowl." VES students donated $3,100 during the fundraiser and the Student Council used that money to purchase gifts for 15 stars from the Star Tree.





Our first grade Gifted & Talented students worked on robotics and computer coding earlier this week.
