
Our 7th grade students captured high attendance honors for the school year and the prize for winning the attendance race was a trip to Urban Air in the Metroplex. They definitely enjoyed their day Friday!







Earlier this month, Vernon ISD sent out letters to parents of students who the district was recommending to attend our Summer School Accelerated Instruction for Reading Language Arts and Math. Summer School enrollment is scheduled for Thursday, May 29, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Vernon Middle School. We're always happy when a school year ends, but also sad because we have to say goodbye to students who have walked our halls for 3 years. Our 2025 8th Grade Promotion will be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, at the Wilbarger Auditorium. The PTO is providing a reception following the event in the Westerner Room.

This year, the Roarin' Lion Band received a Division II at marching contest in the fall, and then received a Division I in concert and Division II in sightreading at the UIL Concert & Sightreading competition held in April. They've had an amazing year!! Make plans to come out and enjoy the concert.


Yesterday, the VMS Life Skills students took advantage of the beautiful weather. They went outside and tie dyed their own towels for those summer trips to the poo.

Tuesday evening the Vernon Middle School National Junior Honor Society induction ceremony was held for the 2025-26 school year. Students inducted into the NJHS included Braxton Booth, Payzlee Brannon, Kasey Calvillo, Aylin Cordova, Reese Fisher, Kynsleigh Hamm, Olivia Hastings, Mayzie Kemp, Alexis Owens, Praylee Patterson, Luke Payne, Paw Say, Sara Soto, Cayson Streit, Lezah Lee and Kenli Kajs. Congratulations to these students. Great job and keep up the good work!!


It's PARADE TIME!!!

The induction ceremony for the VMS National Junior High Honor Society will be held tomorrow at 6 p.m., in the VMS Library.


On Thursday, the VMS & VHS PTO treated our amazing Middle School and High School staffs to a treat from The Snack Spot for Teacher Appreciation Week! VISD is so grateful for the continued support and love shown to our teachers -- not just this week -- but all year long. Thank you for making this week extra special for them!





The Roarin' Lion Band held their banquet last weekend and several students received awards for the 2024-25 school year. The Mardi Gras was the theme for the banquet and was enjoyed by the band members and members of the Roarin' Lion Booster Club who were also attending.

Due to work on the gym floor, the Champions In Training Volleyball Camp has been moved to June 16-18. The camp is open to pre-kindergarten thru 8th grade students. The camp will be held at D.O. This is National Nurses Week and today is School Nurse Day! VISD has three exceptional nurses at our campuses -- Jennifer Walker, Rhonda Garrett and Shawna Sanders. They do an outstanding job caring for our students and our staff, and we can't thank them enough for all they do at our campuses.

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and today, First Presbyterian Church generously provided snack and charcuterie boxes from Texas Eats & Sweets for all VISD teachers. We have some amazing teachers, and we are truly grateful for the support and kindness shown to them by our community.
